Pickle Making Unit

Three pickle making units have been set up at Baripada, Berhampur and Dhenkanal with a production capacity of 120 Metric Ton per annum each to meet the captive requirement of pickles under AAHAAR Programme. Infrastructure for these units have been developed with the support of Mission Shakti Department, Government of Odisha. For machineries and working capital requirements, Bank finance of Rs. 90 lakh has been sanctioned by HDFC Bank.

Mission Shakti SHGs/Area Level Federations (ALFs) have been entrusted for operation and management of these Pickle making Units. An exposure visit of Mission Shakti SHGs was organized to Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysuru to enhance their skills in pickle making. Food Safety Supervisors engaged by ALFs in each unit for ensuring quality of production. Training on Food Safety has been imparted to the Supervisors through M/S Equinox Lab as per FSSAI norms. Partnership has been established with CFTRI, Mysore for technology transfer and Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology (CIPET), Bhubaneshwar for supply of jars.

All the three Pickle making units are supplying pickles in the Brand name of “Mo Aachar” to their respective tagged Aahaar Outlets. Further, marketing tie up has been made with Udyan Fresh, Swasti Group, FPOs and other vendors.
